222 Langdon Street, Madison
Renew 222
A Legacy for Brotherhood
Since 1906, Acacia Wisconsin has been home to generations of brothers at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Our chapter house at 222 Langdon Street stands as a testament to tradition, brotherhood, and academic excellence. Today, we invite you to join us in preserving this historic landmark for future generations.
Why We're Renewing 222
Historic Preservation
222 Langdon has stood since 1927, Tudor Revival brick that cannot be replicated at any price on this street today. Acacia has owned this building since 1965 and called it home since 1952. The architectural bones are irreplaceable. Renewing 222 means restoring them to the standard they deserve, honoring 120 years of chapter history and ensuring the next century starts on solid ground.
Brotherhood Legacy
Acacia has grown from 17 brothers to 137 in under a decade. We have the people. We need a house that matches what this chapter has become. The social floor, the common areas, the live-in experience: this is where brotherhood is built, where rush is won or lost, where the relationships that last decades are formed. Renewing 222 gives the brothers who chose Acacia a home that reflects the commitment they made to this chapter.
Community Stewardship
In 2009, Acacia could not sustain 222 Langdon alone. The back lot was sold, the building entered a hybrid arrangement, and the house lost its identity. No longer fully a fraternity house, not quite anything else. In 2020 the alumni board bought it back in full. That decision was a statement. Renewing 222 finishes what the buyback started, returning this building to what it has always been meant to be and what it will remain for the next hundred years.
